1) What i really learned from this course is definitely how to do a precise research. Before taking this course i used to choose the first results i found. But today, i can use databases and be accurate in my work. It’s my second year at AUC and i honnestly never used any of the databases. I also leraned how to organize the information in a MLA citation. Before this i was always confused. I also feel more confortable with searching any book in the library, i used to always ask at the help desk. Now I can do it alone.

1. What is your research question?

“What effect does violence in the media have on children?”

2. What academic disciplines relate to your research question?

Social psychology…i would choose it because it’s a topic related to society and its problems, and we usually use the term, psychology when exposed to facts affecting children and their behavior caused by media.

Developmental psychology.. it refers to systematic psychological changes that occur in human beings over the course of the life span then it’s relevant to the issue.

Media studies is an academic discipline that deals with the content, history and effects of various media; this would be , i think, really interresting for my research too.

3. What AUC majors and minors relate to your research question?

Journalism & Mass Communication, Psychology and sociology would definitely be the most appropriate majors related to my research.
